Design Inspiration from Montauk

From the folks who brought you Surf Lodge comes Montauk’s newest hotel, Ruschmeyer’s, whose decor, branding and interior styling haven stolen my heart.  While I can’t afford $670 a night, this is a great place to draw ideas for your home’s decor.  And with staff uniforms by  Madewell and Tom’s, food by the chefs at Fat Radish and light fixtures by Lindsey Adelman, it’s a no-brainer that I’m swooning over this place.

What to Wear: Weddings

With over ten weddings to attend in the next year, above and below are the fruits of my potential attire research.  My top criteria for each ensemble included comfort*, fiscal prudence** and its ability to meet the black-tie standards of some soirees.

*buffets + wedding cake = stretchy waistband and/or fabric to mask an expanded stomach

Hello Summer: Memorial Day Weekend

The last few days have been fairly grueling with travel and work so I haven’t had a chance to really sleep and relax–that’s probably why I’m a bit checked out today as my mind is purely focused on the impending long weekend and this year’s first foray to the beach.

For some unbeknown reason, my inner wasp unleashes herself during summer trips, luring me towards Breton stripes, chinos and seersucker.  Whatever the cause for my seasonal preppy-ness, I try to pack multi-tasking pieces that can all be paired with one another and minimal jewelry…because nobody wants to be the girl with three bags for a two-day trip.

1. Chance Boatneck Tee | 2. Metallic Havianas | 3. Fisherman Sweater | 4. J.Crew Seersucker Shorts  | 5. Old Navy Bikini Top and Old Navy Bikini Bottom* | 6. Billabong June Gloom Hoodie | 7. Fabric and Handle Margo Tote with Adjustable Handles | 8. Soludos Espadrilles | 9. Vale Jewelry Initial Necklace | 10. Mini 14K Hoops | 11. Old Navy Denim Cuffed Shorts | 12. AG Adriano Goldschied Maxi Dress  | 13. Madewell Perfect Chambray Shirt | 14. Madewell Windy Day Jacket | 15. Matta Dupatta Scarf | 16. J.Crew Waverly Chino

*Surprisingly, this is the best bikini of all time.  Extremely affordable with a perfect fit, I haven’t found a better one yet.
